ABOUT THIS COURSE

Course Overview

Take your understanding of cosmetic and aesthetic medicine to postgraduate level with a programme built for working healthcare professionals. Delivered part-time and 100% online in partnership with Learna, and academically validated by the University of South Wales, this diploma gives you the scientific grounding behind modern aesthetic practice — from facial anatomy and injectable treatments to skin, hair and broader anti-ageing approaches.

What sets this programme apart is the addition of a Clinical Fellowship. Alongside your academic modules, you'll benefit from structured clinical exposure and mentoring, helping you translate postgraduate-level theory into confident, safe, real-world practice — a step beyond a purely academic diploma.

Whether you're a doctor, dentist, nurse or other registered healthcare professional, this qualification is designed to deepen your clinical judgement, strengthen patient safety, and support your progression within the aesthetics field.

What You'll Learn?

Course Details

Across six postgraduate modules, you'll build a comprehensive understanding of the science, safety and professional standards that underpin contemporary aesthetic medicine — supported throughout by clinical fellowship experience that lets you apply what you've learned.

The Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Aesthetic Medicine is delivered through a blended academic and clinical model, combining structured theoretical learning with supervised applied practice. Assessment is evidence-based and mapped against nationally recognised qualification standards.

What You Will Study?

Anatomy, Physiology and Professional Practice

Explore facial anatomy, the ageing process, and the assessment and treatment planning skills needed to treat patients safely. This module also covers consent, documentation, ethics and the professional responsibilities that sit around aesthetic practice.

Botulinum Toxin Treatments

A detailed look at botulinum toxin — its pharmacology, licensing history, patient selection, injection technique, and how to recognise and manage complications and adverse effects.

Dermal Fillers

Examine facial ageing and the role of dermal fillers in addressing it, including hyaluronic acid and alternative filler types, managing patient expectations, and identifying and treating complications.

Skin Health and Ageing

Understand skin anatomy and physiology, the impact of UV exposure and environmental damage, and how skin type informs treatment choice — including lasers, IPL and dermal peels.

Hair Disorders

Study hair growth cycles, follicle physiology and the causes of hair loss, alongside medical and aesthetic approaches to hair removal and restoration.

Other Aesthetic Approaches

Look beyond injectables to the wider physiology of ageing, covering areas such as hormonal change, platelet-rich plasma, microneedling, ultrasound and radiofrequency treatments.

Clinical Fellowship

Running alongside your academic study, the Clinical Fellowship gives you structured, supervised clinical exposure — bridging the gap between postgraduate theory and confident day-to-day practice.
